On Being A Colwyn Bay Fan
By Rhys Wynne
My hometown club. This category probably will be the biggest on this blog, with good reason, as it’s my team. Since 1995 I’ve been a fan of Colwyn Bay, and seen them be promoted & relegated. I’ve travelled hours to see the Bay play, and we are lovely.

Rose tinted specs are optional, and I’ll aim to not be biased when I talk about the mighty mighty Seagulls!

Anyway, we are one of the longest running clubs in not only Wales, but also the entire UK. Our history has been jumping between minor English leagues & major Welsh leagues, shunning the League of Wales on formation to take our place in the English league system. Following exhile, Colwyn Bay had the most successful period, reaching the Unibond Premier Division in 1992, and having a couple of successful FA Cup Runs – reaching the second round in 1995 (losing to Blackpool) and the First Round the next two years (losing to Wrexham & Notts County).

Colwyn Bay Memorabilia

Millbank Linnets Stadium – Runcorn Linnets

26 Jul

Runcorn Linnets – 1 Colwyn Bay FC – 0 Preseason Friendly – 24th July 2012 To coin a phrase from a certain Jamaican Alcoholic Beverage – the M56 on the 24th August was “total gridlock”. Something happened. I’m not sure what happened, many people weren’t sure, but all was known that although the majority of […]

The Northolme – Gainsborough Trinity

Gainsborough Trinity – 2 Colwyn Bay – 0 Football Conference North – 31st March 2012 What….you didn’t believe Sunday’s post, did you? 🙂 A football blogger, in one of his other pursuits (the church) wrote recently “It has been proven recently that when man has nothing else for comfort, they get comfort from God.”. I […]

Damson Park – Solihull Moors

26 Mar

Pointless Newsflash for you all: Up until recently, I had never been to Birmingham. I’m not entirely sure why, just with most of my friends, family and work priorities spread between England‘s North West, Yorkshire, Wales and London, I had no need to go to West Midlands. Nothing personal, just never had the need to […]

Rivacre Park – Vauxhall Motors

20 Feb

Vauxhall Motors – 1 Colwyn Bay – 0 Football Conference North – 26th December 2011 Ah, one of the great traditions of Christmas is the Boxing Day football. All accross the land fans brave god-awful transport conditions to head to their local team’s games. In the pub on Christmas day it was obscene just how […]

Coronation Park – Eastwood Town

13 Feb

Eastwood Town – 0 Colwyn Bay – 1 Football Conference North – 14th January 2011 Karma can be a wonderful thing. With Eastwood languishing at the bottom of the Football Conference North, it was a ground I thought I’d never visit. The reason? The ground is somewhere between Sheffield and Nottingham (as I said, somewhere […]
